Elida Art, a division of Surfaces, has been designing and applying, detailed and labor intensive, artistic patterns, designs and settings, from ancient history to advanced modern times, for almost twenty years.

Elida Art is the most influential way to adorn and beautify surfaces, within or around any residential or commercial setting.

There is a key factor to understanding the creativity of developing Art. The process of fabrication does not come from a machine, but belongs to the artisan.

The Mosaics

The use of mosaics dates back over 4,000 years and their beauty and resistance, defined at that time as "painting for eternity", help to tell to us the history of Pompeii, the ancient East, from Greece to the Roman Empire.

Between 4 BC and the Middle Ages mosaic art spread throughout the world. It was widely used in Greece during the Hellenistic period, the Byzantine Empire and all throughtout the ancient Islamic world. After a short period of darkness mosaic art was embraced by the artistic movement called Art Nouveau.

One of the major landmarks of modern mosaics is the Güell Park in Barcelona, made famous by the renowned Spanish artist Antoni Gaudi. Nowadays, mosaic art is becoming more and more popular again, offering the possibility to apply a very new level of luxury to any project, in public or private spaces.
