Coverings 2012 – Surfaces Booth
One of the busiest exhibits at Coverings 2012 in Orlando was that of Surfaces, Inc. The Miami-based tile firm drew a great number of attendees due in great part, to its new Crayola glass tile line, which is licensed in conjunction with the well-known Easton, PA manufacturer of children’s art supplies. Additionally, Surfaces’ exhibit was produced with a floor consisting of “White Ice” tile, a unique line of porcelain floor tile with a crystalline glass surface finish. According to many visitors, it was “perhaps the most one-of-a-kind floor tile at the entire show.”
“Our experience at Coverings was a very positive one,” stated Paul J. Young, Surfaces’ CEO. “We knew the products we brought to the expo were interesting, innovative and offered great profit potential to both existing customers and prospects. We didn’t anticipate the amazingly strong response to them. Based on this, we are very optimistic for a strong remainder of 2012!”

Here is the result of their work:

Surfaces at Coverings 2010
During the last week of April, Surfaces was at Coverings 2010 show in Orlando Florida. During the 4-day exhibition we had some great meetings.
The show was very exciting for us to help establish some strategic partnerships and also present some of our latest innovative products that we will be launching to the market during the next few months.

The show also offered some surprises for us; we saw our product, Elida’s White Ice, installed at the Rooms Alive booth. Marc Thee, a well-known celebrity designer, chose White Ice for his booth. This was the debut of Rooms Alive to the flooring industry.
The booth received dozens and dozens of compliments during the exhibition and helped prove Elida’s White Ice is perfect for most any application, including high traffic areas.
The White Ice installation was made by Universal Tile.

Reasons to use Glass Mosaic Tiles
Many are the reasons to choose glass mosaic tile. You can choose it based on the versatility of uses, the beauty of color and textures, the durability and resistance of the material or because you want to reduce the carbon footprint in your project. All these qualities are present in glass mosaic. That why the glass mosaic category has been taking the architecture and design communities by storm.
“Glass mosaic tile is versatile. It makes perfect sense. Most of us know that glass is one of the most ancient materials used by mankind. The first geologic glass, obsidian, was initially used by man thousands of years ago to form knives, arrow tips and jewelry. Man-made glass objects were first reported in the Mesopotamian region as early as 4500 B.C., and glass objects dating as old as 3000 B.C. have also been found in Egypt. There is no question that glass is beautiful, durable and incredibly easy to maintain. So why not combine one of the oldest materials on earth with a design category that is exploding in growth?”
From a design perspective, glass mosaic tile is recreating design possibilities and bringing tile to a new level of imagination. Glass mosaic tile is fresh, colorful and innovative. It is impervious to water and other liquids and is a non-conductor of electricity. It will not absorb anything to which it is exposed, making it extremely easy to clean. They have a variety of stimulating finishes and textures that provide an endless array of decor options, resulting in limitless design potential. Finishes such as frosting, sandblasting, etched, paintbrush style, semi-opaque and, of course, the smooth glass finish, are a few of the most popular in today’s marketplace.
Glass mosaics are also offered in different sizes, from small to tiny mesh-mounted mosaic, to standard small and large format wall and floor tiles.
Glass mosaics can be used virtually anywhere on a project, and depending on the type of glass, it can even be used on floors, countertops, backsplashes, pools and more. Not only are the design possibilities unlimited with glass tile, but the ease of care and maintenance they provide gives designers confidence that they are specifying a product that will look the same as the day it was installed while retaining its natural beauty for years to come.
Today, very few food-courts in retail malls do not have some storefront or fountain adorned with stunning glass mosaics. Glass mosaics are common to many hi-end kitchens, pools and bathroom projects. Clearly, because of the hygienic properties of glass tile, the material is ideal for any installation where water is present. We’ve seen glass mosaics, for example, used in retail applications on an increasing basis, for the past 20 years.
Glass mosaic tile applications are works of art. They are easy to clean. They are easy to install and add brightness and color to any environment.
Talking about environment, glass mosaic tiles have inherent qualities that help you to help the planet. Many glass mosaic tiles are made using recycled, post-consumed glass. To be easy to clean, glass mosaics also help you to reduce your consumption of water and other cleaning products.
Glass mosaics also does not emit VOC’s or toxins into the indoor environment and is allergen free because it does not support the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria.
These are some of the main reasons why glass mosaics are always a great choice in any kind of project. Given the facts, glass mosaic tiles are a perfect fit for your next construction or remodeling projects.
Based on Ron Treister’s text “Glass tile offer desing flair in various retail settings” published in the Retail Construction Magazine (mar/apr 2008)
